2 MINDS: Conscious and Subconscious Mind
James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Mark 11:23
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall
have whatsoever he saith.
There is one thought I want to address.
You can consciously ask. Yet be divided in your subconscious heart.
Wavering is the result of asking for something that your heart doesn’t unify with.
Wavering produces nothing. It is synonymous with asking for something in a language that someone doesn’t understand.
The request was made, but there will be no response.
The currency of the kingdom is faith. “Doubt” in your heart, in Mark 11:23, means to thoroughly divide. In James 1, a double minded man is unstable in all his ways and receives nothing from the Lord.
This informs us that singleness of mind is essential to receiving anything from God.
In simple terms, what we ask for consciously must align with the faith of our heart subconsciously.
Another way of saying it, is that the request must be free from obstruction or interference in the heart to manifest.
This answers the question, how someone can ask of God and receive direction and answers, yet the person next to them can do the same and receive nothing.
The variable is not with God but with the person asking… with their heart.
God will not promote of pride, selfishness, haughtiness, arrogance, unbelief, wickedness, and the like. They are all interference. God has no harmony with these.
Later in James, James tells us:
James 4
4 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
The intent of our asking is paramount (see verse 3).
Lastly, James informs us that if we are double minded, we need to purify our hearts.
In the Gospel Jesus said:
Matthew 5:8 (NLT) – God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.
Simply stated, those whose hearts of free from impure desire will experience God.
Hebrews 12:14 (KJV) – Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Once again, the experience of God is connected to the holiness of the heart.
When the heart is free from interference… those things that miss the mark of God’s glory / person, then we can resonate with Him and experience His kingdom.
Brother Hagin asked the Lord why they weren’t seeing as many miracles as they did in earlier years (I believe he was asking regarding the healing revival), according to Hagin, God’s response was aimed at individuals devotion and holiness (consecration to God).
In conclusion, when you consciously ask, is your heart one with your request? Are your desires and emotions aligned? Or are you separated by judgment, unbelief, fear, jealousy, pride, timidity, and the like?
If we remove the interference then the reception is clear.
When you need help removing interference, ask for His word… (John 15:1, 1 Peter 1:22)
His delight (goodness) is to bring you to repentance. He will answer you. (Romans 2:4, Romans 10:13)
