In a world of work and reoccurring undercurrents of personal sorrow. I was able to break free today. I was able to visit a world of freedom and grace. For the past two weeks of long 12-15 hour work days… I’ve finished the exterior painting project I’ve been on. I’ve persevered yet again. Today I drove to a walking path that runs a little over a mile long. Along the walking path or large compositions of white, and purple flowers. The fragrance is heavenly and unworldly. I have a tree in the corner of where I live that has the same flowers. Also, the home where I grew up had a similar tree overstretched the gravel alley. Today I walked the path with peace of mind and an IBC root beer. The temperature was in the 80’s with a slight breeze. It feels like years since I’ve felt this peace ooze thru my soul. In spite of the sorrow and the gloom, my heart is joyful and hopeful. In spite of the heartache and the pain. My heart has found a reason to smile, inhale, and exhale with grace.

I’m thankful for this life, even though the difficulties have seemed to abound. I’m thankful for the journey, though the landscape is ever changing. In all my years living in Bismarck, I’ve never noticed this strip of springtime beauty. Somehow, in the midst of the busy-ness… I found a pocket of God’s peaceful presence found in nature today. His creation has blessed me… I’ve also watched the sunset for the past week, on a hill a mile from the job site. Beauty abounds, are we awake to see it? Are we still to breath it in. Thank you, God, for your goodness, in spite of and in light of.
