Today I have felt off. Frustrated, inspired, hopeful, disappointed, uncertain, yet full of conviction. Over my lifetime I have persevered and hoped for a romantic relationship I could take to marriage. Yet hope after hope and one relationship after another, I find myself in pain, wanting to give up, but possessing no felt ability to do so. It is as if my internal makeup is determined and destined for the love of a lifetime. Yet is also feels like I may never find it. Though if you ask me, I would say that I definitely will and couldn’t accept any other response as accurate. I have sensed that part of my purpose is with working with romantic relationships.

Today I had the thought, that often we feel like we are not fulfilling our purpose, because we are still preparing for it. Think of it, a hammer when it is being forged, hits no nails. The pot as it is being crafted, holds no drink. The glass while it is being molded, has yet to be set. The hat while it is being designed, still does not sit on the head. The jeans while they are being sewn, aren’t being worn.

My thought is that sometimes the frustration can be one of timing. The mother who is pregnant, ready for birth may still have several weeks or over a month before the baby is seen. And yes, often in the molding, crafting, can be a painful process.

So I live tomorrow like I lived today, by faith. I have yet to see the purpose revealed. I have yet to feel the satisfaction of my purpose being fulfilled. Yet, I must travel thru the narrow place to reach the life that God has for me. The narrow place is a narrow way between buildings often possessing thorns and briers. Yet the end of it is true, and life giving.

Wherever you find yourself, whatever storm you may be in… find God’s word to you in the storm. Find His mind in the crisis. Find his refining process in the fire. You’ll realize, the fire is your friend. It is the dross that causes the pain.
